Miss Beaty gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

Next week, Miss Beaty will go on vacation (lucky her) to Walt Disney (lucky her again). We all wish her a very good time with her family even though we don't want her to leave.

I hope that with the subtitute, we will be very nice and responcible (hopefully) so when Miss Beaty will come back she will keep her nice smile on her face like we like her!

6b rememberance day

This year 6b was invited to go to the Croix du souvenir. It was very fun . 3 people in the class were chosen to read a poem and they had the chance to hold doves and shake the hand of Jean Charest, Regis Labaume, and some veterans. We were supposed to shake their hands, too, but we did not .
We were given real poppies to put around the Croix du souvenir.

My favourite part of that day was when they shot the cannon .

Some people were very emotional when they were thinking of all the people who lost their lives to make this wourld a better place to live.

class 6bs haunted house.

6b is doing our very own haunted house. Everyone is very excited. Yesterday we went to go visit the kindergarten room; that's where we will be doing the haunted house. Today we are going to do the groups. We all have very scarey fun ideas. when it is done hopefully nobody will cry or be too scared! But I'm sure we will all have fun acting and building!

The Big Soup!!!

On Friday the 16th of October 6B brought vegetables to make a vegetable soup. We had carrots, celery, tomatoes, potatoes,and all kinds of other vegetables. Some people brought seeds such as barley.

The soup was delicious! Some people took THREE bowls!!! We had also had crackers with the soup.I thought it was a good idea to make a class soup!!!!

Rockets Away!

At Mont Cosmos last Friday, when the students finished making their rockets, all of 30 cm in height, I never expected that they would explode and take off into the sky as they did! Very cool!

Class So Far (3 weeks)

These past weeks so far have been great!We started many projects reading and recycling .The reading is being presented in our 6B hall at the left side.

The recycling project will be presented in other classes: how to recycle and why we should recycle !

The first day of school I was so happy to have came back. I was glad because I had the teacher I wanted; all my friends were in my class and I got my favourite seat!

I hope that I have a great year!

Hello, and welcome to the first 6B 2009 blog. We are doing our recycling project and we will show the whole school.I am very excited and so is my partner. Grade 6 2009-2010

Day 0 of the countdown to Grade 6 09-10 is here! This year, we'll explore space, human development, change, the environment...we'll practise reading and writing strategies, and learn about our history. My number one goal is to get you students ready for high school! Second goal, stay safe. Third goal, have fun while learning. I believe that staying active is good for our bodies and minds, and that the arts, music, drawing, acting, help us find the beauty in life. I am your ally; my role at Holland is to support you! This year, I hope that the class pulls together, and that we "take care of our own". This is the first day of your last year at Holland. Take a snapshot of this moment for the memory book in your mind. What are your goals? Who will you choose to be this year?

Camp Keno !!

All grade sixes at Holland school have worked very hard on their final exams.

Our school Principal has decided that we deserve a break, Camp Keno is where we were going!

We had fun and most of the kids were well behaved.

All the students participated in the activites and tried their hardest. The counsellors were nice to everyone and they helped students who needed it.

Unfortunatetly many student got sick, some of them had the flu and others had a rough cold.

We had lots of pleasure anyways!

Track & Field Day

On June 1st, kids in classes 4-6 were outside playing and running around. The kids were seperated into their house colours doing different activities and stations. Supervisors and teachers were recording the kids' progress etc.. The events were shotput, discuss throwing, obstacle race, high jump, baton relay, cooperative games, long jump and other stations such as the 50 meter sprint...

the exams

This month we started doing our end of the year exams. We are doing math exams, french exams and language (LES) exams. The math tests included different kind of problems testing our math abilities. In the french test we had to read about diffrent kind of birds and at the end we had to create a bird that could survive in our environment.

book talks

This month in our class we had book talks. I think it was quote interesting to know what the other people were reading this month. They needed to read a book and present the most interesting parts in their book. They needed to talk about the story, the meaning, features, meaning etc..

stripe art

This month each of the students in our class had to do art ,striped art.We had multiple choices of pictures of animals ,wildlife and lands.We had to cut the image in stripes and do whatever we want with it.

Google Sketchup 7

Last week, our class started to learn a new program on the computers. The program is called Google Sketchup 7. The program is made by Google. We can upload things on the program and play around with it. You can even upload people on the program! We can make buildings or even objects. You can even upload doors or windows for your house! It's a very neat program. At the end of the year, our class is going to do a project on it. The program is very complex, but our class is having a good time figuring it out!

Easter

Today, April 9th, we did an activity with our grade 2 buddies. We had a little activity that included finding clues to find a lil' surprise for our buddies. Then we had to do a bit of colouring with our buddy. I'm sure everyone had a great time with their buddies.

Museum of Fine Arts of Quebec

Today, our class went to the Museum of Fine Arts of Quebec. We went to see the exposition "Les Oeuvres de notre temps". It was about recent works of arts that were from
Quebec artists. There weren't any paitings, they all were made with different materials. For example, we say one that was made with puzzle pieces, another one was a little, little room which looked old and in need of repair from the inside but was luxurious from the inside.

This week we finished the book Holes by Louis Sachar, after we watched the movie Holes. It was fun since we brought chips, popcorn, juice and other snacks. The movie was different and we had fun comparing the book from the story. We also did a synthesis comparing Holes and "The Wall" from Pink Floyd.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUASiDg-kg4

Robotics

This week we learned how to create programs for a robot. In the last month, a team had built the robots, and now everybody in the class gets to make a program. You can make the robot go forward, turn each side, make sounds, say words, and there are lots of other cool functions. I think everybody is really excited about the robot programs.

Astronomy

This week we started talking about Space.
We are going to do a project on it.
We have choose 8 topics and write about each of them.
We can do a power point, a notebook activity or something else.
Exploring space will be fun.W.I.

Valentines day!!

on Valentine's Day we did a party!! We watched some of a Simpsons season.After we played DDR.It was really fun and I didn't see any people not participate!!It was a party we'll never forget. ;)

Le Relais!!!

February 5th both of the two 6 grade classes will go to Le Relais! It will be super fun and everyone is very excited too! We can't wait to go!!

The all-star game

This weekend The all-star game is going to take plce in montreal at the Bell Center. 3 players of the canadiens are going to play with the east team.On saturday it will be the ability contest and on sunday it will be the game.

Hollands Famous Skating Rink!

This year at Holland there is a smooth and big skating rink for us. Mister Joycey, the janitor and the St.Lawrence cegep students helped us build the sides of our rink. We will have fun skating, exercise and get fresh air.

A Fun New Unit About Robots!

This week we started a new unit on robots. Robots I think are really cool to study because we learn how they are programmed and how they act,and how they try to act like us. We class 6B are lucky because we will get the chance to play with robotic material.Let's hope it will be fun(actualy it will).
