Antique Skates

Here is an image of an olden day NHL skate. This powerful shoe is 65 years of age. It has been used on many ice rinks. Sadly not on NHL rinks. Acompnay named '55 Pro-Styled Daoust Canada created it. Like many skates the blade is rusty. For at least 20 years, nobody has ever reused them. As if today, all skates blades are made out of a metal not as heavy. Ex. titanium and aluminium. In the olden days, their best metal was heavy iron. As you can see, the one on this page is certainly made out of iron. In that case, there were lots of chances rust would be seen. If you want to have a foot that's comfortable while gliding on the shiny white ice, let me tell you this is not the skate you'd want to buy. On the bottom of the skate rubber is attached. If it had been older, the rubber would have been replaced by leather. Weird! To finish with, all the texture NHL skate has isn't thick. As an NHL player, my fear of getting hurt would've been high. I sadly didn't get the date they were created in but I learned a lot. Hope you enjoyed getting to know about an old NHL skate. They have changed over time!
