Brians winter

When I was a little kid, about 6 or 7 years old, every time that I went in a store or something like that, every time I would get lost. For example: one time I was at the IGA my mommy would look around for food while I was not paying attention to her and then I would get lost. Then I would scream mommy and also tell to myself that in a few minutes everything would be back to normal. When people get lost they start panicking, and this boy survived a big adventure. And by the way he was only 13 years old. He was a very intelligent and strong. Not only strong physically but strong in himself, his heart. He believed in himself, that he would survive a that he would get rescued one day. A few months or even years to think of his big and stressful adventure but eventually he will get use not to think about it but he still will remember this big adventure.

Accidents like this is normal, there will always be people that get lost and have big bid life experience like Brian. The ones who loved that person will never forget them and if, if that person comes back, it will be a moment of respect and love for them. When this person will have activities like vacations, have fun with friends and family. The situation will eventually disappear of their minds. And in his adventure he still learned something, he learned how to use special tools and how they work. He also learned how to act in winter without warm clothing. I don’t know how a big life experience like this one felts but I know that it must be a struggle and hard to survive and all of this desast for him. Learning how to use tools like a hatchet, wood, light and many other objects, is very important.

Finland Hockey Team visits

The two grande six classes got to interview Pee Wee hockey players from Finland. We got to ask questions to them and they got to ask question to us. After the interview we noticed that we have many things in common with them. Both classes got to go outside and play with the Finland boys. When the game was finished we went inside to drink a hot chocolate and eat maple syrup cookies, yummy! The Finland coaches gave us chocolate bars and angry bird lollipops. Almost all of the Finland boys had blond hair and blue eyes. We had a great time discovering different king of people and different language. It was a great experience.

Another Take on the Giver

THE GIVER

          Why do we learn about the past? Why do we have emotions? Sometimes people ask themselves these questions. They ask ‘What’s the use?’ I think this book was written to remind us of those answers. Humans and animals are alike; however we have the capability to learn, to learn beyond our own life, to learn from the past. We also feel things animals don’t. We have emotions and memories, that’s what makes us special, that’s what makes us human. In the book nobody had emotions or memories, except for one, because they are too scared of the pain. However I think that the painful emotions are worth it for the fun emotions. Those characters never got to live happy emotions like love happiness etc... I think it’s sad not to have the emotions that are worth living for. If you don’t have emotions, what’s the point of living?

          Choices. In this book people couldn’t have their choices; the chiefs would decide everything, their jobs, clothes, bicycles, hair etc... The chiefs are like the government, they decide everything. However they still let us have choices, like our jobs. They still make world guidelines (rules) so it doesn’t get out of control; the whole world has the same rules like no murder; the countries have different rules, like slavery in Canada is not permitted; provinces have their own rules, law 101 where you have to have special permission to go to an English school in Quebec; cities also can have simple different laws, like you have to have one type of roof. However our society lets us have some freedom unlike the government in the book. The sad part was that everybody had to be as smart and all the same as everybody. The problem is that everybody learns differently and is different. If a baby wasn’t learning right, then they would kill him. A society shouldn’t have the right to do that. It’s prejudice, just like the holocaust. The Nazi party thought that people had to be like them (not Jewish) or they would kill them. Everybody is person and has the right to live no matter how we are. Difference isn’t bad either. Differences attract.  

         Change, when you want change you have to do it yourself. Don’t wait for others to do it. Jonas wanted people to feel and learn what he had known because he had the job to keep the memories and the past. People hadn’t known what love is and he wanted that to change. He sacrificed himself so other people could learn what he had. Jonas had sacrificed himself for a whole year because he had to endure all of the pain possible on his own. He left so that it could be a life we have now (2013) with some joy in life. The people could not see the color, which represents not having joy in life. Jonas made a change because he wanted to. If we don’t want war, or something else, we can change that

The Hobbit

I just finished reading the graphic novel version of the Hobbit.  The dwarves wanted to get revenge on the dragon because, many years earlier, they built a throne, a mansion, and Smaug, the dragon, stole all the gold and other treasures.

The dwarves' plan was to get a hobbit to act as a burglar, and get through the adventure safely in order to get their mansion back with all the gold and jewels.  The dwarves and the hobbit met many characters on their journey such as goblins, trolls, a leaf king, men, and spiders. In the end, they got what they wanted, but they paid a great price.  Thorin, the dwarf king, died during the adventure.

I think the dwarves did the right thing because they had found all the treasures to begin with and worked hard to build the mansion.  Thorin died happy knowing he was working to get the dwarves back their things.  The story is not just about getting revenge on Smaug, but about getting justice for the hard work the dwarves had done.  The were other people in the village who had lost their homes.  When the tragedy happened, the people got sad and depressed because some of the people close to them died and they would never see them again.  When the dwarves killed Smaug, the people in the village were happy because there would be no more fear that the dragon would attack.  Smaug was wrong to steal the items from the dwarves.  Smaug hurt people, burned down the village, and was greedy.

In our world, people sometimes rob banks, steal from cars and houses, and rob stores.  Other people do vandalism for no reason.  People work hard to get their money and other people shouldn't steal it or other people's things.

Sometimes people do bad things with their lives.  They have to pay back money and they get scared so they do desperate things.

Le Relais

On February 15, the two grade six classes visited  “Le Relais” for snowboarding or skiing.   It was very fun and the snow was perfect for this activity. The beginners, who took lessons, fell often but eventually everyone got back up and continued. The more experienced skiers came to encourage us not to give up.

The weather outside was warm and everyone had a great time. My favourite part was the thrill of going down a huge mountain really fast for the first time in my life.                                                                                                                                                               

Some people brought their GO-PROS™ (a camera that you put on your helmet) and we are going to watch ourselves fall on the Smart board and laugh!  It was very fun and I hope I get to go again some other time.

Book of Time

Have you ever heard of time traveling? Well Sam Faulkner had but he did not really believe in until …..

He had not seen his father for at least 10 days he was gone without leaving a trace. Sam decided to look for him in the bookstore his father had. Inside he had found a rock statue and a coin with a hole in it. He then had a strange feeling to put the coin in the statue. Boom! He was now in a other place and time it was in Scotland the time of Vikings then in a other place and time and a other.



This book was very good. It teached me that our time was perfect compare to other times like when he was in world war 1 . It said told us how these times were bad.



I could visualize everything in my head it was a very good writing. I could see how these places were huge and beautiful.



I got to love the character a lot. It told us how he thought and gave some very good character traits. Unfortunately we got to love some character`s that we only saw for 40 pages and then he goes in a other place witch was almost sad.



It made me remember an old book I read long time ago and it was very good. But sadly I don’t remember the title. It was very



The climax in the story was actually the last five words it said Allan Faulkner (Sam’s dad) had scribbled on the wall of his prison cell “save me Sam, from dad! At this moment I really wanted to read the second book. The climax is a kind of word for suspense for me. I would even say best end of story I have ever read!

There’s a Boy in the Girls’ Bathroom

“AHHH”. It’s not always fun when there is a boy in the girls’ bathroom.  This review will tell you a dense response of this goofy story by Louis Sachar.

This story is about a boy in 5^th grade called Bradley Chalkers.  He has difficulties in school and doesn’t make an effort.  He has no friends because of that.   One day a councillor comes to his school and helps him become good and teaches him how to do efforts.   At the end of the book, he starts doing his homework but he rips it before handing it in.  Then he does homework and he rips it but his councillor gives it to his teacher.

The Story in a Story

A good feature I found in my book was the words of a book in a book.  There were paragraphs of a book called “My parents didn’t steal an elephant” that Bradley read.  When he was reading, he related to the story so the words helped us understand.   There was also a lot of humour. For example, «Everyone got their map out, so did Bradley.  But his map was different.  He had Europe on Canada and Mexico in France.  So he cut it out and put it in U.S.A at the right place.  Bradley was a good cutter.  He cut exactly the black lines.”

Main Characters

“Chalkers.  Stop right now!” Bradley Chalkers is a young boy in grade 5 who always gets into trouble...in the past.  Except he turns out to be very good inside and his councillor helps him show people that he is good on the outside too.  Carla Davis:  A very fine young woman who applied as a councillor at Bradley’s school.  She doesn’t believe in accidents and thinks everything has a reason.

The inside

I think the message of the book is that if someone has difficulty in school, they should be respected equally.  They are just the same as everybody.  All people have difficulties in certain things so really we’re the same.  In the book, Bradley doesn’t do his homework and does not listen in school but he is a nice boy.  He tries to make friends but they reject him like a loser.

How many of you have judged a class mate by his school results?

I have a little connection to when Bradley was running and hid in the girls’ bathroom. We were in the M&M store in New York when I had to go to the washroom.  The bathroom labels were M&M characters.  Both looked like boy M&Ms so I went in one of them and it was the girls’ bathroom.  I was lucky there was no one in there!

My Opinion

My opinion of the book is that it makes kids and children understand that judging people by their grades is bad.  It’s smart of the author to pass this message.  It’s also a book full of humour.  The author was probably a humoristic man.  I rate this book 5 stars for its good message and the humour it contains.

In “There’s a boy in the girls’ bathroom” book, I focused on predicting.  At each chapter I would try to predict what would happen, but the author kept surprising me.  It was as if he was reading my mind and doing the opposite.  It made my reading more interesting and at the same time suspenseful.

I think it was a good book and I’d like to read more books about this author.

Do ghosts really exist ?

If yes I’ve never seen one!!!

Some say that ghosts doesn’t exist. But others say that they do exist and if ever you watch the show called Medium, it is about  a girl who can feel them and communicate. They can also tell you that you lost someone that you loved. She well describe her like if she is right beside you.

At the house of my mom, there was a guy who lived before us and he died of a heart attack. He was waiting for his son to wake up so that he could die. One time when I was alone I heard a noise, it was coming from the bedroom of my mother. At first I did not want to go and see because I was to scared. But then I stood up and I went when I approached a frame fell from the wall of my mother. Other people who knows that a person is dead in their house are scared and they want to move. And some of them just like having some ghosts in the house.

What I think from my book the Thirteen Ghost, is that ghosts for me really exists. When a person dies it never really goes away, it stays there with you. Some just want to take revenges because they love their house and they want nobody there. So he well decide to haunt them until they die.

I think that the book really makes you think about was is going to come next, and if they really exist. I think that the book really made me think because it is interesting how people can be there and at the same time you can’t see them.

Just  remember  never communicate or be scared in some hard or scaring circumstances.
