Beezus and Ramona
By: Kate Guérard
Beezus and Ramona
Sisters! I mean they fight, hate each other and sometimes love each other!! What can I say, that’s the life of two young girls! Just like me and my sister, just like Beezus and Ramona....
This is a small book review of my book ‘‘Beezus and Ramona’’. This review includes my opinions, do I like this book and why, all about the characters, the theme, the meaning, the dialog, connections and who is telling the story. Enjoy your reading.
I saw the commercials of the movie on TV and it had the same title as the book. ‘’Beezus and Ramona’’ isn’t that a bit simple? I mean I would have put a more original title than just the name of the two main characters! Maybe ‘’The Contrast Between Two Sisters’’ or something like that. But don’t judge a book by its cover because it was very good, and you’ll find out more by reading my response. This book has two main characters: Beezus and Ramona. Ramona is Beezus’s little sister who always tricks her, plays pranks on her, annoys her, gets her in trouble, etc. She is the kind of girl who never let’s go of anything, wants everything that other people have, and she thinks she is the boss!! Beezus is a lot more mature than her little sister Ramona. She is the oldest, but with her little sister around, she does not feel that she gets any attention. Beezus is lucky to be the oldest but is not lucky to have a little sister like Ramona. I can understand what the characters feel and I can visualize them easily because they were well described in the book.
I think the theme of this story is to accept your family as they are even if they make it difficult for you love them. In this story it is hard for Beezus to love her sister all the time. Well, actually most of the time because Beezus does not like her sister all the time. She hates to say that she does not like Ramona every second of her life because she thinks her mother is going to be mad. Poor Beezus!
In this book, there is not that much dialog. It is mostly a descriptive story with a tiny bit of dialog but when there was dialog, it was good and funny!
A narrator is telling the story. In this book the narrator tells a descriptive text. He also describes every single detail of the setting. The characters went to a lot of different places but I did not have a problem with that because I could tell right away where they went! Like example: I would say in my head, ‘’Oh, now they are at Beezus’s painting lessons!’’ or ‘’Now they are at home with all of Ramona’s friends!’’. I could really connect to this book all along! Right away I could make the connection when I was younger and took painting lessons and my sister was almost always there to pick me up with my parents! I could relate how Beezus found it hard to have a younger sister like Ramona. It was as if I was Ramona and my sister was Beezus. When Beezus said that she did not like her sister all the time, I knew how she felt. I even feel that way again sometimes!!!! I really loved reading a book that I could relate to easily and understand the story. Ramona loved to play hide and seek like me! I even like to play today and I do play with my cousins and my friends! When I play that game sometimes my parents tell me to stop because they don’t have time to find me and they have to work, I totally understand them and even more by reading this book.
From reading this book, I learned that it is hard having a sister that you don’t love all the time and it is even harder to say it in front of other people and that it’s OK because you don’t have to love them all the time. At Beezus’s birthday, her mom knew that something was bothering Beezus so she asked her what it was and Beezus was courageous enough to admit that she did not love Ramona all the time. Of course, Beezus thought that was wrong, like me when I was younger, but to force yourself to love somebody all the time isn’t the clue to every problem. It is all right to not love somebody all the time, I mean, take a break and think about it a second time over again until you find the right key to unlock the door to this problem.
I could connect easily, I could understand everything the narrator or the characters said, the theme is good and that is why I enjoyed reading this book! While reading each sentence of this book, it was as if the narrator was reading the story of my life!! I am very anxious to see the movie that came out not long ago. I don’t have a favourite part in the book Beezus and Ramona because they were all funny, suspenseful and they all caught my attention.
Our first dissection, was the owl pellets. which we had fun. But now Mrs. Beatty wanted us to dissect something else. Mrs. Beatty told us that we would dissect Chicken wings, everyone said ark. But when we started dissecting, some people wasn't afraid of touching it. Mrs. Beatty well explained the way how the chicken wing moves it's wing, then people were playing with the wing and saying bye to everyone. Which was really funny. When people were playing with it, well they didn't just have fun they learned something new to them. And we all learn about when you work in team you have more fun and learn faster by telling our opinions to your partner. At the end of the day everyone had a good day and enjoyed learning about the Chicken wing. And mostly took half of their appetite.
6B will always remember this day.
Twilight directors Notebook
This book is interesting; its alot telling how they did the movie. Telling all the details like why Bella changes style by the time she gets to know more Edward. (At first she wears older boy stuff maybe that her dad gives her. Then when she starts knowing more Edward she starts to wear for feminine stuff such as shirts with flowers on them, starts wearing blue, white and a bit of black makeup for the Cullen's).
It also shows sketches of the house before they used them, how they did to change the room and alot more. The places like in Arizona at first, they needed to put cactuses, palm trees and paint the houses again, but like usually they needed to ask the owners... About the characters, it talks alot about how they are dressed, and how they need to change. Ex: Niki Reed (Rosalie) needed to dye her hair blond because in the book Rosalie has blond hair. (Niki had brown hair, now she has blond hair).
Characters
- Kristen Stewart (Bella)
- Robert Pattinson (Edward)
- Ashley Green (Alice)
- Nikki Reed (Rosalie)
- Jackson Rathbone (Jasper)
- Kellan Lutz (Emmett)
- Anna Kendrick (Jessica)
- Mike Welch (Mike)
- Justin Chong (Eric)
- Christian Serratos (Angela)
- Peter Facinelli (Carlisle)
- Elizabeth Reaser (Esme)
- Edi Gathegi (Laurent0
- Rachelle Lefevre (Victoria0
- Cam Gigandet (James)
- Ned Bellamy (Waylon)
- Taylor Lautner (Jacob)
- Gil Birmingham (Billy)
These are all the characters that play in the movie. Some of them as James and Waylon dies in the first movie/book. So we don't see them in the 3 other movies/book which are New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. They are all good books.
This book is good for people that are twilight fans as me and people that want to know more about twilight and all other sorts of stuff about twilight and alot more.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid
The Ugly Truth
Have you ever read someone’s diary who says his life is boring? Well this book diary of a Wimpy Kid the Ugly Truth is about a boy called Greg whose mom bought him a diary and now writes all about his life in it. Most of the time he talks about problem’s at school with family and with friends.
For example, once at school Greg and his class were assigned to keep an egg for one night and bring it back at school the next day. They were supposed to take it as if it were their child. It didn’t work out for Greg because he put his egg in the fridge and his mom cooked it for breakfast the next morning. When he got to school the next morning, every girl had decorated their egg with diamonds and things like that. Some even made a little pocket for it. That meant Greg had failed his exam.
Greg had a best friend named Rowley but, they got on an argument coming home from school. He tried to make a new best friend but he couldn’t find one. That means that now he is alone.
It must not be fun to be alone because you don’t have any friends to play with, and also, you have nothing to do during recess at school.

Fight for life
Review by: Nicia
The story takes place in a veterinarian’s office owned
by the narrators grandmother. The whole story talks
a lot about taking care of animals and treating them
with tender loving care.
The story is narrated by a girl named Maggie who is the main character. She resembles me a lot because of her love for animals and her personality. She is always willing to put things aside in order to take care of animals that are abandoned or sick. She is lucky to have a grandmother who is a vet and that teachers her the importance of school and priorities. Her parents died in a car crash, her grandmother took care of her, this is the only home she remembers.
I like this book because there is a lot of information about dogs, cats, skunks and other animals. I learned that puppy mills are against the law, information about the health of puppies, the plants that are dangerous if eaten, symptoms of sick puppies and especially that puppies are a big responsibility, all this while I was enjoying the story.
I think this story was very good because it made me read the whole book without stopping. It kept me wanting to read. There was a lot of description and it felt as if I was there with the characters. The dialogue was realistic and she used simple words that we use every day. While I was reading, I felt sad for all the puppies being mistreated. But it also made me happy to read that when you take care of an animal, you can love it back to health.
I can connect to this because I want to become a vet too so I work hard to get my grades up and have fun with my friends. Sometimes, obstacles are in my way but I fight and get through. Maggie has to raise her marks to be a vet one day but her biggest fear just became reality: A puppy mill. The right time for an obstacle. Will she ever get an A? Will her grandma eventually let her be or will the clinic be changed forever??
My favourite part is when Maggie finds the puppy mill and the man running it gets arrested. Maggie had noted down that it is illegal to run a puppy mill, to breed un-certified puppies and have more than 5 litters in his possession. The police officer wanted the
man to only pay a fine but Maggie insisted that he be arrested.
I would suggest this book to any animal lover because the whole topic of this book is about animals and vets, how to learn by your mistakes and always make the right choices.

Title: Cathy’s Book
Author: Stewart, Weisman, Brigg
Publisher: Running Press Book Publishers
Year: Published in 2006
Cathy’s Book
Cathy’s Book is the first book of a trilogy. The second book is called Cathy’s Key and the third book is called Cathy’s Ring. It is written like a diary. It is a thriller and also a romantic story. In this book, there are three main characters: Cathy, Emma (best friend) and Victor (ex- boyfriend).
Meeting the Main Character
Cathy
Cathy is the most important character of the book. From what I know, Cathy is a teenager that likes to put her life in danger. Cathy loves to put her nose in other people’s lives. In the book, she is eighteen years old. Her father just died and she is very sad. She lives alone with her mother in the house. They fight a lot. She has a boyfriend who broke up with her and wonders why. So, she discovers lots of weird things about Victor when she sneaks in his house without permission or when she goes to his office. For her, school is not really important. She never does her homework and skips classes. Cathy likes to bring bad attention. Cathy’s best friend is Chinese. Her name is Emma. She is the opposite of Cathy because she is a serious student that likes to learn and succeed.
About the story
The story is about a young teenager named Cathy that decides to put her nose where it shouldn’t be. It all starts when she falls in love with a guy named Victor. They do lots of fun things together like go in restaurants or go in Victor’s uncle’s jet. Suddenly Victor breaks up with her and she can’t accept his decision. Therefore she goes on a witch hunt to find papers, pictures and any other information that would help her understand why. She gets into lots of trouble like being kidnapped by two false police officers. Cathy discovers near the end of the book that Victor is 124 years old. But how can that be? I think I told you a bit too much! Want to know more, read the book! You will be surprised.
Conclusion
I strongly suggest this book to girls because it’s girly and a little romantic.

CharactersRoxas: He is the main character for the beginning because he has the key blade to open the gate to awake soradonoldand goofy. The key blade is an big key to use as a weapon. Roxas is a young boy like 14 years old. Roxas went in a house that only the key blade could open it. There was a girl named Namine she new every thing about the key blade she said roxas is not suppose to exist he is just an illusion to open the gate.
Sora: he is the main character he is young too he is like 15 years old. He has THE key blade. Sora needs to break the portal of evil that’s were the heartless come from. And the key blade Sora has is the only one that can break the portal. He has to partners Donald and goofy.
My opinions is the book is good but all the story went so fast I recommend this book for boys because there is a lot of fighting. The story explain like if you were there.
Baby Island
Did you ever think it would be possible for 2 girls to survive on a dessert island, carrying 4 babies, after a shipwreck? Well this is possible in the story. You will meet a 12 year old girl, named Mary, and you’ll discover that she has a heart of mom. A girl who would do anything to save her relatives. Also there is the sweet poetic Jean…When I say poetic, it’s because in the text of the book Jean writes poems on how she is feeling, and remember she is 10 years old. As the girls’ adventure continues they meet several obstacles. Obstacles like: Baby cries… What to do? No place to sleep… How are we gonna built a home... and many more.
You know, Robinson Crusoe was very brave and he did something very special, he wrote the number days he had stayed on the island, by doing marks on the tree’s bark. But Jean and Mary had their own calendar with them, so they would have their own schedule like on Fridays, do this and that… The girls where as brave and courageous as Crusoe… But now look in the sky… Do you see someone surviving on an island now, in these days??? It would be so possible, with all the technologies we have now. But if there would be no technology what would the people do to survive??? Would they send messages in a bottle so they could be found, like Jean did??? Or would they make a raft or dive to the water bank of any place in world??? Probably not, but it could be an idea.
Personally I can’t rate this book because every time a read it I give it a different rate… Ex: At 9 years old I rated it: 7.5, on my 10th year I rated it: 8.5 and now I really don’t know… It’s hard to rate it because… In fact it’s my genre of book, but maybe, after all I would rate it 9.7, because of the adventure and suspense of the book.
Everyone can change. Everyone! Mr. Peterkin is a man who settled on the Baby Island after living everything behind him, family, friends, and also children. When he meets the 6 children on “his” island well he doesn’t like it. He says the he moved because he wanted to escape from the kids of the village… I find that awful… After all, this man changes. The reason is, because of the little Elizabeth. She would always compliment on how pretty his beard was and that so cute…Now it wouldn’t be possible to do this. It would cost a lot to live on an island of their own. Million heirs could afford it but not an old man, escaping children. I know a couple that could afford it… Carlisle and Esmée. They are the parents of the “good” vampires in Twilight. In the 4th book of the serie they lend their island to Edward and Bella, for their honeymoon.
If ever you find a book that is alike… You’ll have to link it to Baby Island because it would be fantastic if this book could become popular again like it did in the past years…

DIARY OF A WIMPY KID
THE UGLY TRUTH
Gregory is a kid in middle school who is trying to get popular but always fails. I think that Jeff Kidney (author) has a lot of skills in humor because he is able to write a kind of joke that everybody can laugh at. A feature the author uses is that the view is always from the front or the side. The only time he has a close up is when they show something degusting. Ex: close up on Fregly’s secret freckle. The way the author draws his character is very funny.
He usually exaggerates with the form of the face. Ex. Manny’s head is bigger than his body. All teenagers have a deformed head or a lot of freckles. Jeff Kidney has made a good job writing the book in a way everybody can understand. The diary is like if Gregory was talking to us. Gregory is always chasing this girl named Heather hills, but he never really gets far. Ex. Greg was in the church. He shook hands with heather hills. Then at home he wanted to call her and say he was the guy from the church. But Rodrick hid all the phones. The author makes Greg look real in the words but not in the pictures. The people in the book don’t talk a lot. Sometimes they only say small sentences that make us laugh.

Dear Dumb Dairy
Dear Dumb Diary is on of my favorite books to read! I love the drawings in her Diary they are so funny, and she always exudates but in the funny way.
In this book Jamie (the girl who wrights the dairy) is trying to raise money to go on a trip with her friends, aunt and uncle. And her aunt and uncle said that they could only raise money by themselves and they can’t ask money from there parents.
So they try full of stuff, they tried a lemonade stand a car wash, a baby sitters service and plenty more. Once one of her friends Isabella did something illegal and police men showed up at her house. At the end they know that they wouldn’t be able to go but another of Jamie’s friends raised money by walking kids, 5 year old kids! I was thinking maybe walking dogs, but walking kids it’s just weird. So they got to go.
I really enjoyed this book and I hope you do to!
